I have this strange issue with my Apple TV services and MikroTik router when strict return path (RP) filter is enabled. Apple and related iCloud services download/upload bandwidth is at about 5KBit/5KBit, making it impossible to use, but all other services, like YouTube, on the same Apple TV device get 500Mbps/500Mbps. If I put Apple TV behind VPN, then Apple services get full 500Mbps bandwidth. Someone suggested that strict return path filtering can be the cause, but if so, then how to keep it enabled for LAN and disabled for WAN? It is typically a Linux kernel SysCTL parameter that is applied system-wide. How do I use MikroTik tools to verify that my ISP uses assymetric routing that requires loose RP filter? Has anyone else had a similar problem so exclusive to Apple services beibg super slow, while other services on the same device have no bandwidth problems?
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/Manual:IP/Settings ← only applies to the asymmetry of your device
/ip/settings set rp-filter=strict
the entire internet is asymmetric
you can use TTL to test this but only if you administer on both sides
