I am trying to set up a wireless webcam. I have a Belkin wireless router. I checked the default gateway address which was 192.168.1.251. This then took me to the a screen with RouterOS v5.5 and not my Belkin router. I have no idea how this other router is on my machine. I connect wirelessly using the SSID and password I set on the Belkin router!
I need to set up my webcam wirelessly and need to set up port forwarding to do this. Can anyone edavise me on how I can do this. I do not know any passwords or anything about the RouterOS v5.5. I would have been straight forward if I was doing it using the Belkin router.
I have just run winbox and this gives following information
Mac Address IP Address Identity Version Board name
00:0C:42:48:92:A4 192.168.1.251 FidokaAir 5.5 RB411
Fidoka is my internet service provider. I have tried to connect but it will not allow me. There is a webfig button but when I press this it needs a password and this cannot be left blank.
I have coonected my Belkin router to the cable they have provided but cannot understand why I cannot connect to the Belkin router.
how do you get internet connection from your ISP? does your wireless router get a public ip from your ISP?
I need more info about your Internet connection. I think you better to call with your ISP. If configuration depends on Mikrotik, I’m able to help you
Yea he is definitely seeing one of his ISP’s routers. They should really have that turned off so you can’t see it. But more than likely they aren’t going to let you change anything even if the 411 is your CPE.
This is how I get the internet connection taken from their wbsite:
“Wi-DSL is a service offered by wireless technologies (electromagnetic waves) and therefore can reach areas not served by Internet service providers and from normal 'ADSL cable. To activate a Wi-DSL we need to install an antenna on your home or office, thus becoming an integral part of the network FidoKa Wireless. The antennas comply with all regulations in terms of regulation of radio communications.”
We live in a remote location in Italy and have no telepehone line to get the internet and thsi was the only available option.
My Italian is not good enough to try and resolve this with the ISP.
Is there no way of working around the problem so I can set up a wireless webcam. In addition to the Belkin wireless router I also have a Edimax wirless range extender and I was wondering whether it is possible to by pass the ISP router using either of these routers.
I know that the Belkin IP address is likely to be 192.168.2.1 but can is it possible to change the default gateway from 192.168.1.151, which is the Mikro router, to 192.168.2.1 and if I did this would the Mikro router stop working meaning I cannot get internet access.
