Can someone help please?

I set up a wireless broadband system LAN 6 years ago , it gave internet access to friends and relations . The RB IP address is static. The signal from the router is transmitted to the various receiving aerials which are between 12 and 16 km away. They have been given 10. ip addresses, there are about 8 antennae/aerials in the network. There is no problem with the network, it is v reliable, even with winds up to 130 km and sea spray !
The signal is working fine, the 5-6 people have great bband, but I now cannot access the box to check usage, aerials, signal, the usual stuff. I am not an expert , I am a beginner. I can ping the RB by typing the static ip address of the router . I am about 100km away. I can’t access the box however. Can anyone give me an idea where I am making an error? I have an access user name and password, set up previously by the man who did the installation. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has done something to block access, but I can’t prove it.
Thanks
Joe

Were you able to access the RB before and are you pinging the public ip address of RB, can you give a sketch of your network.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I could access the RB, software, see the nodes, traffic etc. The guy who installed supplied a user name which I clicked -in the first/top line of Winbox, and voila, connected.
I am able to ping the IP, but I am confused as to what I am pinging…the external or gateway/internal? I have a static IP from Eircom, this is the public one I assume…
Does pinging this IP do no more than just that…pinging…and is it another IP which he allocated when he gave me the user name, this IP being the gateway IP into the RB? This how it works? Would it be the case that while I might be able to ping, all I’m doing is what anyone could do who knows the external IP ( which could be in Mongolia ), while the gateway IP is the actual one I need, in the RB, and this has been altered? If so, how to sort? Restarting makes no difference
Thanks
Joe

I need more information, do you own this network and if yes has a problem developed recently and does the guy who installed the network still have access?

Do you use this network for internet access as you say you are “100km away” or are you using a different network?

Are you using the Dude for network monitoring or are you just logging into a RB,

Are you pinging a public IP address and not private(10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

Do you have internet access now on this network?

sorry for the delay in writing back.
The ip address which I can ping begins with 86.
Far as I can figure, that’s the ip eircom has given me. I have a user name which I type into the Dude Connect dialogure box, I type the password, I type the ip address where it says Connect to, the port shows as 2210, 2211 also , and if I use remote, local, secure, as Mode, still get an error
The router is broadcasting away fine, no phone calls complaining of no internet, I just wish to access the box and check it. Any idea where I am going wrong - especially as I can ping it from up here in Galway in 70ms, and it is down outside Kilrush
Thanks
Joe

Can you ssh into the box?

Ok you will need to be on the local LAN in Kilrush to test access with winbox, if this works then setup a pc with dude attached to this network, you have a choice of using say LogMeIn or remote desktop with port forwarding for remote access and monitoring.
