Internet Modem ----> hEX Router ----> RB260GSP Switch ----> hAP ac lite
To cut out the number of power supplies required, would it be possible to power both the hEX Router and the hAP ac lite from the RB260GSP Switch via passive POE?
Yes it can. RB260GSP comes with 24V power adapter and both hEX Gr3 and hAP ac lite can take this voltage. However, you’ll have to reconfigure hEX from defaults: hEX can take PoE in via ether1 while default config uses ether1 as WAN port. In your case you’ll want to use ether1 as LAN port (and dedicate some other port, e.g. ether5, as WAN port). Nothing too complicated if you know a bit of ROS.
hAP Lite (2.4GHz only, very low cost, powered by USB or USB/powerline) and hAp ac Lite (very versatile 2.4+5GHz router, with PoE in and one PoE out) are 2 different devices.
Powering hAP ac Lite, hAP ac2, wAP ac, SXTsq 5ac, Omnitik 5 ac, hEX, … no problem with RB260GSP
Replacing the Mikrotik hap ac lite with the UniFi Lite Access Point in the same setup using passive PoE from the RB260GSP switch should not be a problem, right?
Power Method: Passive Power over Ethernet (24V), (Pairs 4, 5+; 7, 8 Return)
Power Supply: 24V, 0.5A Gigabit PoE Adapter
Maximum Power Consumption: 6.5W
Do you know any comparable access points in the market (passive PoE, Gigabit Ethernet Port, Dual Band 2.4 / 5 GHz)?
