Cannot connect through the mac address

I would like to connect to a Mikrotik Hex routerboard RB750Gr3 from my Ubuntu laptop. When I connect the cable to any of the LAN ports and to my computer, even with the DHCP setup, no interface to the router is connected. When I try to use Winbox through the Wine, I cannot connect to anything or find anything. Basically, everything looks as if I was not connected to the router at all, but I am connected through a good working cable, the router is in the power and LEDs indicate that I am connected. One possible problem is that I have an ethernet to usb converter connected to my laptop since my laptop does not have an ethernet port anymore. I know this converter works and I can see its mac address and I know that I am connected to it.

What can I try to connect to the router so that I can configure it at 192.168.88.1?

Although I cannot answer my original question to connect using the mac address via the eth to usb converter, I managed to resolve the problem and can connect to the Mikrotek router.

The problem was that I had manually setup a connection to the optical network via pppoeconf which was overriding all other DHCP settings to the Mikrotek router. I disabled this configuration with sudo poff, ran sudo dhclient and then the computer was connected directly and automatically to the router and now I can access 192.168.88.1 as needed.
