I just got a new mAP Lite, and am unable to follow the instructions to connect to the device. The fourth step in the included instructions state: “Open https://192.168.88.1 in your web browser to start the configuration” - if I do this, it just times out and says “This site can’t be reached.” If I got to “http://192.168.88.1/” instead, then I get a message saying “This site was blocked. Google Wifi’s Site Blocking has blocked this site on this device. If you want to visit it check with your parent or guardian.” I can log into Google Home and see the device in the network, and see the IP address assigned to the device. If I put that IP address into my browser, I also get the “This site can’t be reached” message. After reading some of the info on these forums, it says that you can connect via MAC address using WinBox, so I downloaded WinBox and entered the MAC address (which matches what I see for the device in Google Home). Unfortunately, when I try to connect with WinBox, it says “Could not connect” and keeps trying over and over without success.
I’m a bit stumped on where to go next. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Is this question posted in the right forum? Any additional information I can provide that would be helpful?
You’re in the right section of the forum
Probably no answers because most will never have seen this (I haven’t either).
Just to be clear:
- power on mAP Lite
- connect your computer/laptop to wifi of mAP Lite, no other ethernet connections on computer
- and THEN you get an error about Google parental controls when you use webfig for 192.168.88.1 ??
- Winbox does not help either here ? MAC address should appear on its own in Neighbors.
Does it change a thing when you try with mAP Lite not connected via ethernet ?
My desktop does not have wifi–ethernet only. I tried connecting the mAP Lite to my home network via ethernet cable. I also tried connecting the mAP Lite directly to my computer via ethernet cable. Neither worked.
However, I was able to grab my laptop and connect with it. It just did not seem like there was any way to connect with the ethernet cable that I could determine.
Default mAP Lite considers ethernet as WAN.
And there is a firewall rule blocking input from WAN.
In the user manual it is specified first connection should be made using wifi.
Afterwards you can change what you want.

First use
Connect the device to the included power adapter;
Connect your computer to the wireless network;
Open 192.168.88.1 in your web browser to start the configuration;
User name: admin and there is no password by default (or, for some models, check user and wireless passwords on the sticker).;
(part about passwd on sticker is as far as I know not yet applicable for mAP Lite, I bought 2 last week and it was not in effect).
