Cannot login to mikrotik after reset

Hello,

I decided to break out an old mikrotik hex lite to try and solve a problem on my network, but after a factory reset, upon plugging in my macbook pro or hp z8 into the router I cannot get an ip address or login to the router at 192.168.88.1, or ping it either. I just get a self assigned ip. what would my next steps be to troubleshoot this and get it working again?

I got this working with winbox and punching in the mac address of the router. all good!
