Hey all,
I set up my hAP ac2 as a wifi repeater. Has been working fine for months. I went away for 3 weeks and unplugged the repeating router due to loadsheding.
Im back now and when trying to connect to the repeated signal I keep getting “cannot obtain IP address” on all of my devices.
I have also changes to static IP and it connects but no internet…
Anyone have any ideas on what the issue is and how I can fix it?
Please note it took me almost a month and step by spet instruction videos to set it up in the first place.
So I’ve reset the hap ac2 and redone all the settings. Still won’t work. Either I can connect and it has no internet connection or I cannot connect at all because “cannot obtain IP address” error…
Can you please explain to me how to do this? Like step by step as I have very little clue what you're actually asking me to do sorry I'm pretty useless when it comes to this stuff. I can tell you exactly what I've done if that will help?
Is your MikroTik wirelessly connected at all?
Is your security settings correct (WPA AND WPA2)?
Is the SSID correct?
Are you sure you can connect wirelessly on the 5GHz band?
Has anything changed on the wireless network you connect to?
Does your MikroTik get an IP address (DHHCP Client)?
Why do you use extension channel on the 2.4GHz radio?
Is 802.11b required?
Besides: you might want to upgrade to a newer RouterOS version…
So I managed to figure it out. I needed to used the same ssid as the original wifi signal. Basically instead of using a different ssid for the vertual wlan I needed to use the same ssid.
I have also update the OS as of this morning.
Thank you so much for the help. I really do appreciate the time and effort.
