Cannot obtain IP address when trying to connect to hap ac2 set up as repeater

Hey all,
I set up my hAP ac2 as a wifi repeater. Has been working fine for months. I went away for 3 weeks and unplugged the repeating router due to loadsheding.
Im back now and when trying to connect to the repeated signal I keep getting “cannot obtain IP address” on all of my devices.

I have also changes to static IP and it connects but no internet…

Anyone have any ideas on what the issue is and how I can fix it?

Please note it took me almost a month and step by spet instruction videos to set it up in the first place.

So I’ve reset the hap ac2 and redone all the settings. Still won’t work. Either I can connect and it has no internet connection or I cannot connect at all because “cannot obtain IP address” error…

Please please please someone help me fix this?

Give us some more info:

/export file=anynameyoulike

Remove serial and public IP (and any other personal info) and post in between [ code] tags.

Can you please explain to me how to do this? Like step by step as I have very little clue what you're actually asking me to do :woman_shrugging: sorry I'm pretty useless when it comes to this stuff. I can tell you exactly what I've done if that will help?

So I’m using winbox to access the Mikrotik HAP ac2 router. How do I export from there?

Sure MikroTik is your way to go?

  1. Open Terminal (it’s in the menu)
  2. /export file=anynameyoulike (and press enter)
  3. Open Files
  4. Download the anynameyoulike.rsc file
  5. Open the file with your preferred edittor
  6. Copy the content and paste it here (don’t forget to remove the personal information

Okay. This is what I've got

Is your MikroTik wirelessly connected at all?
Is your security settings correct (WPA AND WPA2)?
Is the SSID correct?
Are you sure you can connect wirelessly on the 5GHz band?
Has anything changed on the wireless network you connect to?
Does your MikroTik get an IP address (DHHCP Client)?

Why do you use extension channel on the 2.4GHz radio?
Is 802.11b required?

Besides: you might want to upgrade to a newer RouterOS version…

So I managed to figure it out. :grin: I needed to used the same ssid as the original wifi signal. Basically instead of using a different ssid for the vertual wlan I needed to use the same ssid.

I have also update the OS as of this morning.
