Cannot ping dynamic pptp client from static pptp server

Hi guys,

I recently got two mikrotiks (RB411U). I set up one of them as pptp server with static external ip connected via wimax to my isp. The other mikrotik acts as a pptp client with an lte internet connection (Huwai 3g) with a dynamic external ip.

I can connect to my pptp server and ping and access all machines on the servers LAN. However, my pptp server cannot ping any pptp client machines or even the mikrotik itself. Nevertheless, i can ping the client from server mikrotik tools->ping.

I have searched online and tried different configurations, but cannt seem to get this solved. I have set up static ip routing on both routers and created NAT rules on both routers.

Any ideas, what could be missing here.

What NAT rules did you use? I use a PPTP site-to-site as well and didn’t configure any NAT for it. Both sides of the LAN can ping the other side just fine.

  1. Server Mikrotik, create static PPTP Server interface with username specified
  2. Server Mikrotik, create route remote LAN via static PPTP Server interface
  3. Client Mikrotik, create route remote LAN via PPTP Client interface (static by nature)
