Cannot ping the Mikrotik router interface...

Hi; i am very new in Mikrotik and I have the following problem:

Suppose I have connected my laptop to the Eth2 of the router. I assigned the 192.168.0.1/24 to this interface. My laptop IP address is 192.168.0.2/24 and the default gateway of it is 192.168.0.1. Right?

I have connected another system to the eth3 of the router. I assigned 172.16.0.1/24 to this interface.

Now my problem: from my laptop I cannot ping the 172.16.0.1 interface. Also note that, I can ping my laptop from the Mikrotik router.

Can you please help me to solve this problem?

P.S I use version 3.23.

please check your configuration and see both links in this section in manual:

http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/3.0/#IP%20Addressing%20and%20Routing

also, check if any other configuration (default) does not interfere with your configuration.

also, check your laptop according to manual of OS provider.
