Cannot sign onto yahoo?

I installed this MikroTik x86 into my network and now for some reason I cannot sign onto yahoo messenger via the program. Anyone have any ideas?

As you haven’t actually provided us with any information about how the Mikrotik is configured, at this moment in time, no we can’t help. Try explaining in more detail what you have done / not done then maybe we might stand a chance?

Sorry I have not configured anything for firewall rules and 99% of my installation other than hotspot is stock as it comes.

The mikrotik is the last hop between the pc and the gateway to the internet.

Has the Mikrotik been given correct gateway IP address data to the internet? Have you entered a valid DNS server? How did you configure the hotspot - using the wizard? Did you enter the correct information? Have you signed into the hotspot authentication page? Have you entered a valid and existing account to the login page? Do you even get a login page… can you ping the Mikrotik from a client, but no further… do you get an error message on the login page? Does it sign in, give you a status page, but then nothing further happens?

Help me to help you!
Be more specific about what you have done, then we can reduce the millions of possible reasons why it does not work down to just a few?

Wellllll I came home from my trip this weekend and I heard the server making long beeping noises and being that there is no monitor hooked up and I dont have a way to hook up one where it is, I just powered it down and back up and it started working 100% again including yahoo O_o.

Before I signed onto the hotspot of course.
I used the wizard to make the hotspot.
All my other programs were working fine, firefox, IE, aim, gchat, outlook express.

What you are describing is normal behaviour! You cannot connect to any internet services including Yahoo Messenger until you go onto the internet with a web browser and sign in via the login page! :open_mouth:

sorry I didnt word that right. BEFORE the server crashed and had to be restarted I was always signed onto the hotspot. I am always signed on, and I made sure I was too.
