just wandering if some of you could help me out with this config.. im having trouble accounting for traffic of a user in user manager, and having problems with MAC authentication.. even with only MAC selected in the hotspot setup i am presented with the Mikrotik hotsport login upon opening the browser..
in my RADIUS tab i select Hopspot & wireless (as im monitoring wireless users separte at the moment)
using hotspot2 and serverprofile2 (hotspot 1 is just a test dummy)
network address’s 172.16.180.0-172.16.180.254
selecting on MAC - and ticked “use RADIUS” in the next tab
the user is “ants” i have put in a username and password and input my MAC
but as above i am stil presented with the hotspot goin user page in the browser.. and i cant account for traffic in user-manager.. any clues?
name (string; Default: ) HotSpot login page username, when MAC-address authentication is used name is configured as client’s MAC-address
mac-address (MAC; Default: 00:00:00:00:00:00) Client is allowed to login only from the specified MAC-address. If value is 00:00:00:00:00:00, any mac address is allowed.
Straight from the manual.
To authenticate via MAC address you turn on that method and create a local user with the MAC address as the username. Filling out the MAC address field just enforces that the user can only be used to log in from that MAC address, but does not use the MAC address for authentication.
I don’t use User Manager so I don’t know how it does accounting.
Ok so.. the MAC authentication is working now.. but i cannot get any traffic accounting working for the Wired connections.. i have my PC and a VoIP phone adapter connected to a managed switch on their respective vlans abd user manager is showing no traffic in its logs… i have connected a mobile device to the same hotspot and it is showing traffic in user manager.. but not the wired conections.. any ideas?
the hotspot is on a Bridge interface.. i have setup two hotspots identically.. both set to use different bridges on differnt VLANs. both these VLANs only have one device each connected to them respectively.. my PC and a VoIP Phone adapter to the other.. i have selected (under bridge) settings / use IP Firewall, use IP Firewall for VLAN, and use IP Firewall for PPPoE.. but i still cant account for traffic on these clients..
the funny thing is i can account for traffic on a Virtual machine im using on my PC but not my PC itself.. and i cant get anything out of the VoIP phone adapter..
am i supposed to put anything in the “Default domain” in the pic below..
