Can't Connect to Ubiquiti AP Pro

Hi there

I am fairly new to Mikrotik devices and am having some issues, that I suspect relates to a Mikrotik router.

I was asked by a client to setup a Ubiquiti AP Pro on their LAN. However for some reason the Controller software doesn’t detect the Ubiquiti AP. All devices on the LAN connect to a switch that is connected to a Mikrotik router. There is another Ubiquiti AP on the LAN which is working fine. Something strange I picked was the existing Ubiquiti AP was using a 192.168.1.20 IP. When I connected the new device onto the LAN, it also seemed to be getting the same IP (I did an IP scan on the Mikrotik router). The DHCP server is running on the router, however the 192.168.1.20 IP doesn’t seem to be showing as a leased address.

Could there be something on the Mikrotik router that is blocking traffic on the LAN and hence the reason why I can’t detect the Ubiquiti AP Pro? ( even tried disconnecting the existing AP)

Many thanks and hope I can get to the bottom of this issue.

Regards

Sheyn

If your AP cannot obtain an IP through DHCP (=the default) then it will revert to a fixed IP of 192.168.1.20.
So this means your Mikrotik is not handing out anything to the Pro AP
Is this environment doing VLAN stuff ? Or a flat network ?
If you put something else then the Pro AP in the switch-port, does it then get an IP via DHCP ?

Perhaps do a full factory reset on the AP ? (pinhole)

The IP address you mention is the default device IP of Unifi devices. The controller should be available over HTTP on port 8080, sure that is working? Are you using VLAN’s? Otherwise, reset the Unifi and/or post a topic on the UBNT forum.

I took the device offsite and picked up a DHCP address and the AP was seen by the controller? Previously I had done multiple resets onsite and nothing changed.

Please provide a conceptual schematic where we can see the position of the Mikrotik <> other attached LAN-switches. Are you using VLAN’s , trunk-interfaces etc ?
If you are running a flat network (VLAN’s) then it is hard to believe the AP Pro would not get an IP via DHCP while another device on a switch port next to it DOES get it’s IP from the same Mikrotik DHCP service.

Thanks for all your help. There was an issue with the DHCP server, not giving out IP address to Ubiquiti AP’s

That was the problem in the first place. Have you found out why this was happening?

Sorry dredge up this old thread, but can you advise what the issue was with the Mikrotik assigning the addresses to the Ubiquiti AP’s?
