Can't connect to WIFI - Invalid AKMP

Hi!
I have several 2.4Ghz devices connected to one of my SSIDs, but one device refuses to connect, it’s a Neato Botvac Connected.
I turned on debug logging for wireless, and all it says is the below: DEBUG: 50:8C:B1:20:C8:01@MANTBOX-2G-2 association rejected, invalid AKMP

I’ve confirmed that the MAC address above is the one of the Neato.

The SSIDs security profile is set to WPA2-PSK and with a passphrase(rest is default) which the Neato should handle.

Anyone know what invalid AKMP means and what the problem might be?

As stated above, this is the only device that I’ve had trouble with.

This error means that the device’s attempt to connect to the wireless network was rejected due to an incorrect or unsupported Authentication and Key Management Protocol (AKMP).

Did this device connect normally before? Did you change anything in the security profile?

Try resetting the settings on Neato and connecting again.

Haven’t had it connected to my Mikrotik APs before. Last time I had it connected to WiFi was a couple of years ago, to UniFi AP I think.

I’ve tried and reset the Neato and connect a couple of times, but still the same problem.

I’ll try and change some security policy related settings and see if it works.

I once had a similar issue with a Xiaomi robot vacuum, but the problem was with the Xiaomi firmware. Rolling back to the previous version solved the issue.

Just signed up here to leave a message for you:

Had same Issue with my VR300 (Vorwerk - same Hardware as Neato)

Issue is with Neato - they don't behave according to IEEE 802.11 standard.

The Botvac tries to Associate with the SSID without FT (Fast-Roaming) - but it is sending a Mobility Domain Indicator along. According to Standards, this is not allowed. AP has to deny association with "AKMP is not valid"

Botvac has to fix this on their end.

Meanwhile all you could do is a workaround:

Disable Fast-Roaming
