Hello everyone,
I’ve bought the following switches and SFP+ Modules recently:
- CRS226-24G-2S+
- CRS210-8G-2S+
- 2x S+85DLC03D SFP+
I want to connect the two switches with a 10G fiber link via SFP+.
But regardless to what I am doing, it’s not possible to establish a successful connection between these ones.
What I have done:
- Change the OM2 fiber to a OM4 fiber
- Disable Auto Negotiation on both switches
- Swap the SFP+ Modules between the switches
But nothing was successful and I am frustrated now. I guess the one SFP+ Module is defective, but the big question is, which one? And it is really defective, or simply dirty in the optical part.
Situation as is (the most successful one - hint: the exact switch model isn’t important here, depends on the SFP+ module this behaviour):
- Switch 1 says “link ok | running” and is showing that Auto Negotiation was successful with 10G
- Switch 2 says “no link| not running” and is showing no success with Auto Negotiation
- Switch 1 shows stable TX and RX Power Levels or nothing at all when it comes to power levels
- Switch 2 shows stable TX Power Level but blinking and unstable RX Power Level
- Before Switch 2 had shown the unstable RX Power Level, the RX Level was stable at - 41.xxx dBm which means to me basically “no physical connection”
Could there be the possibility that the optics got some dirt inside? Could I clean the optics and when yes, how.
Which of these Modules could be defective?
Thanks in advance!
