Can't get DHCP to work

I’m having an awful time with my setup.

I’ve been able to get the wlan1 connected successfully to my WIFI access point, however that’s about it.

Once I have this setup, shouldn’t I be able to setup a DHCP client?

Any DHCP client I try to setup ends up in a “searching” state.

Your post doesn’t have enough details.

What did you set up exactly? Are you trying to extend an existing access point via a Mikrotik radio? What is the DHCP server?

Post a network diagram (including all devices, links, their names, function, and IP addresses on all interfaces) and the configuration you applied.

My original post is here http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/help-with-simple-setup/41183/1

All I want is a client setup so that it can connect wireleslly to an existing AP. I want to be able to connect my laptop to the ether port of the router to connect to the internet.

Everything SEEMS to be working except for the DHCP part.

I figured if my wlan1 is connected successfully to the AP, I could do a simple test to see if DHCP was working properly. I figured I should be able to add a DHCP client on wlan1 and successfully have it connect to the DHCP server on the AP. No?

I’ve replied in the other thread. I don’t see a reason for a new thread, splicing the discussion in two is just going to be confusing the people and would replicate effort between the two threads.

Coming back to this. I can’t figure out why I can’t get a DHCP client to connect to a DHCP server on my wifi AP. My AP is a basic linksys wireless router with the DHCP server active.

Wlan1 on my router is connected to my ap successfully, however when I add a DHCP client to Wlan1 it always says “searching”

My routerboard is a 411 and I’m running a ubiquiti xr2. The interface type is reporting as Atheros AR5413, is this correct?

Any ideas? I’ve been working on this setup for almost a week now with no success.
