Can't get WAN IP address (RB 3011)

I have a brand-new RB 3011 that I’m trying to set up that doesn’t have a connection to the internet. I have my line from my ISP plugged into eth1 and my laptop in eth2. I can get to RouterOS to perform the Quick Set configuration, but I have no IP address. I do not have a static IP address since those settings we’re not needed with my previous Netgear router. My ISP provides my IP address dynamically. Clicking release/renew has no effect.

If I plug my cable from my ISP back into my old router, I am able to access the internet, so I know I do have a connection. I have tried rebooting, and resetting the router a few times.

Solved: I changed the MAC address to match that of my old router.

The proper solution is most probably the following: reset MAC on RB back to original, power off the ISP gadget, wait for a few minutes, power on the ISP gadget and plug in RB.

Rationale: many ISP gadgets buffer single MAC address of customer’s equipment and only issue IP address to that one (think of DHCP server with single address in pool) … when ISP gadget is powered off, it forgets about MAC address of previously connected customer’s device.
