False statement there about what passwords were “declared invalid”.
My password had lower case and upper case characters + numbers and I also had to reset it.
I doubt that any forum stores passwords the way you think that are stored, it should be (almost) impossible to recover the plaintext password from the hash of the said password which in turn would make it impossible to determine the original password complexity/strength.
Your explanation seems valid only if this forum stored passwords in plaintext, which I hope isn’t the case, but then my password shouldn’t have been affected.
There must be some other explanation, but not yours.
Resetting passwords from time to time is also healthy. So.. no biggie.
I agree with @Znevna as well … I’m using a weak password (according to password selection rules) and forum keeps accepting it (didn’t have to change / refresh it). So it seems like password database actually got somehow damaged during works but that damage did not affect all forum users.
That seems to be indeed a false statement in hindsight, but then it was Mikrotik weekend so no input/help from their side about what was happening.
The biggie was that we where left to our devices while Mikrotik wrote earlier that nothing was changing for us. This was the indeed the case…until on Saturday something was whiped/erased by Mikrotik. Then the party started and we were forcefully invited to the Mikrotik weekend.
