cant login into RB1000 after Hotspot package upgrade

Hi guys,

Recently bought a RB1000 (last one in store). Upgraded it to v4.9 l6 (combined package) worked fine.

Yesterday installed the user-manager package through the ‘web’ interface, rebooted it then all hell broke loose. Noticed :
A) RB1000 lost the licence to Level0 expiring in 23hrs.
B) Couldnt see the vlan, routes through winbox but my computers where hitting the hotspot page and accessing the web fine .
C) Did a reboot through Winbox … and that was the last time i ever managed to log in …!

and now.
-I cannot access RB1000 via winbox.
-RB1000 not getting DHCP leases on eth1 from my DHCP server /router
-Tried WinBox login via MAC address . Mac address doesnt even show up.

Is there any way to factory reset* the RB1000 ? Any Ideas will be appreciated.

*Currently only have straight through and cross overs - Dont have the console cables yet

Cheers

Taken from the manual:

It is possible to reset all software configuration by using the Software Reset 2 button hole (TP12) during the
power-up. No confirmation or passwords will be asked, so use with caution. This feature can be disabled in
the “system routerboard settings” menu by switching the “enable-jumper-reset” parameter to “no”.
Simply use a metal object to short circuit the metallic reset hole (TP12) while booting.

Hope this helps…

Hey Mate,

Thanks. I tried that as well.

When i power up the Rb1000 the only LED light that comes up is the blue one.
The green one is off and there is no ‘beep’ at all.

Pretty puzzling…

I think you are going to have to get or make yourself a console cable and do a netinstall. If it doesnt beep then its probably not booting into the OS, which would explain why you cant connect to it.
