I just recieved our first 532 boards and SR5 cards. I am new to this equipment but know my way around rf quite well.
I have configured everything that I can see in the wireless section of the software but I can’t ping accross the wireless link. The 2 boards are associated. And this is a simple P2P bridge, no routing, nat or any thing else as it is already taken care of on an other router.
Is threre someting fundemental that I have to do elsewhere to get this to work. A bridge or route of some type between the eth1 and wlan1 ?
Try bridging the ethernet and wireless card interface and move your ip address to the bridged interface for both routerboard 532. This will enable you to have a bridged link between the 2 routerboard.
You will have a better (transparent) bridge if you implemented EoIP or WDS, i prefer WDS but both are cool.
Do read the Mikrotik Reference manual , Mikrotik is as robust and complex as Cisco yet most cost effective.
Do I still need to bridge the eth1 and wlan1 on each side of the link? The documentation seems pretty good but there are no exaples to get started with.
