Can't ping local machine from Router

Hello, sorry this is my first post as a question.
I can see a lot of mikrotik enthusiast here on the forums, and I’m glad to see that much people interested in this kind of topic. I myself want to learn more and I see mikrotik as a capable device with lots and lots of interesting stuff to do with.

Okay, so my questions follows:
My computer is connected via ethernet to a router that is wireless connected to the mikrotik router.

Computers ip (as seen from ifconfig): 192.168.1.140
Routers ip (as seen from my computer): 192.168.1.1
Routers ip (as seen from the mikrotik): 10.10.17.7
Mikrotiks ip is 10.10.17.1

The problem is that I can’t ping my computer or my router from the mikrotik. I telnet to the mikroting and type ping x.x.x.x and no response. Tried to ping every ip from the list, my computers internal ip, my routers internal and external ip but no works.

The reason why I’m trying this is because I am trying to capture packets remotely, and need to set the destination machine for the packets to stream to, but I need to find out to what ip the packet stream needs to arive. And so I tried to ping from mikrotik to find out, but no works. So do you know what is the problem?

Sorry if wrong section and thanks in advance! :sunglasses:

Can you make a network diagram, i m not sure to really understand your ip plan there, but it seems pretty obvious that it can’t work that way

Here’s the network map

So I am connected to the mikrotik via telnet but when I do /ping ipaddress.of.my.pc it won’t ping… Why is that so?
