Can't use Java program via port forward

I’m trying to open up a spectral analyzer on an AP. It uses Java and an odd port.
I’ve tried port forwarding using both src and dst NAT as per proper firewall rules.
I’ve tried using both TCP and UDP.
No luck.
The SA will work if I plug directly into the AP ethernet from my laptop.
I’m on same subnet as the WAP I want to view with the Spectrum Analyzer.
In past, I have been able to acces the SA remotely as it was behind a standard consumer router with DMZ enabled.
Solutions?

Fire up wireshark or any other network protocol analyzer to find out which ports you need to forward. SOHO router DMZs just forward all traffic to the ‘DMZ’ host. It’s likely you’re just not forwarding all the required ports.
