can't winbox in through remote dude session

I am only able to winbox into a radio through the dude server on a machine connected to the network the radios are on. (private addressed radios)

Can I winbox to a radio from a remote dude session on a network other than that of the radios or do I have to be on the same network to winbox in?

I can freely move about dude when on another network and logged into a remote dude session but when I go to start a winbox session it times out.

Is there a security something I am missing or is my dude acting goofy?

I think that is your PC who connects directly to the AP with winbox. Then.. your PC needs connectivity to the AP.

Launch winbox from dude is like a shortcut..

PC has winbox installed and if the pc (laptop) is connected to the management network (private addressed network) that the radios are on then I can winbox in. But if I am connected to the internet somewhere else, IE another service provider, I can’t winbox in.

Seems logical for security. I just wanted to make sure I don’t have another problem. I have setup remote desktop to a pc on the network so I can admin that way.

Can anyone confirm winbox connectivity from out of network pc?

If it’s a windows.. you can log in there and put “route print” in cmd. Look if you have route to the internal network and the internet network. If yes, try to make a ping. I must work. If you can ping, then winbox from dude will work.

found it. Bad route. I was just too tired setting it up. corrected the route issue and everything worked fine.
