cAP AC as a home router

Greetings, gentlemen!

As I’m getting more used to the RouterOS at work I start dreaming of getting it at home. Basically I have the incoming Gigabit Ethernet WAN @ 300 mbps from my ISP and my home network consisting of two iPhones, two laptops and two IP-TVs connected via 5 GHz AC WiFi and a guest isolated network on 2.4 GHz with limited speed w/o access to the home network.

I’m wondering if a single cAP ac is capable of handling what my current D-Link DIR-825AC/G1 does?

MAYBE in the future I’ll add a server to the network set up as DMZ, and maybe I’ll make a VPN to my work network. That’s all I can imagine atm i.e. I don’t expect to have more than one wired connection in the future so physical port limitation is not an issue neither I expect the need for a funky LAN configuration consisting of something more than two /24 lan segments for home devices and guests.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

If you really don’t need more ethernet ports, then it should be ok: it is capable of pretty much everything you can need in home environment.
The only thing is a lack of usb port.

I think the capAC is a reasonable starting place. If you find that it is not managing the load after some time, cpu wise, then it will be a natural fit to get a more dedicated MT router device whilst the capac will continue to focus on the wifi side.
