cAP ac for the dude server??

sorry! newbie question but can a cAP ac be used for the dude server to run on?

I have a CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN which is not suitable but was considering adding a 5Ghz ap and being arm it “should” work according to the requirements for the dude but I found mention in a thread that it may not.

can anyone confirm?

cAP ac has only 16MB of flash, and has no means to extend the storage (there are no USB, SD or M.2 slots). So while technically you should be able to install and run the Dude server on cAP ac, you will not have enough space for even a minimal Dude DB, and so it will be effectively useless.

You can use a CHR (Cloud Hosted Router) and install the dude package there.

thank you, I was struggling to see how the Cap would work and that makes sense.

as I dont have any other Mikrotik devices I am having a look at the CHR VDI running in a virtual environment

big learning curve at the moment as I am not familiar with routeros or the levels of configuration available
