cAP ax: Best performance

Hi folks,

I’m interested in your experience with cAP ax and the best WiFi throughput you’ve achieved.

In the 5 GHz band and a 80 MHz channel width I was able to get 750 Mbit/s down and 890 Mbit/s up with iperf3.
WiFi client was registered with an Tx and Rx rate > 1.000 Mbit/s.

Reference test with the same client and server connected via ethernet gave me nearly 1 Gbit/s line speed.

Is there room for a realistiv improvement of the wifi performance?

I don’t think so. To achieve a throughput of ≥ 1 Gbps over WiFi, you typically need a 160 MHz bandwidth because WiFi generally operates at about 60-70% efficiency of the PHY rate. At my home office, I have an 850 Mbps internet connection, but my hAP ax3 cannot fully saturate the connection with a single 5 GHz WiFi client (my MacBook Pro).

PS: the AP is over my desk :stuck_out_tongue:

Those numbers are normal for cAP AX.

Using wAP AX, which does support 160MHz channel and I’m lucky to have a relatively interference free environment on 5GHz band, I can get close to normal 1Gb using laptop with Intel AX211 card (900-ish).
