CAP ax POE out issues

Installed a new cap ax yesterday to replace one that just died. POE IN works fine, however POE OUT to a hAP ax2 is causing issues. I can get the hAP to power up by forcing POE ON on the cAP, it won't power up on auto. If I try do a speedtest from my tablet using WiFi (capsman) the hAP loses power. Its almost as if the cAP is struggling to deliver the right amount of power.

I have run this setup for two years until the cAP died last week, the new cAP is not playing nice for some reason.

OS version: 7.20.6.

Any ideas??

Was previous device also cap AX ?
How as it powered ? What voltage levels ?

Pending supplementary info, assuming you use regular poe with 48V for cap ax, have a look at poe requirements for ax2.

PoE in Passive PoE
Cooling type Passive
PoE in input Voltage 18-28 V

See the problem ?

You can not mix af/at poe with passive poe just like that.
Another possibility is that your current power delivery for cap AX is not sufficient for both cAP AX and AX2 (hence why I asked if that previous device also was cap AX and how it was powered).

You should be able to use lower voltage with injector towards cap ax ( it accepts 18-57V but be careful with combined power usage) and then it will work as well for ax2.

Yes the previous one was also a cAP AX and everything worked fine, I was using the hAP AX2 power supply to power them both, but with the new cAP AX its not powering up the hAP but cAP works fine. I have no idea what the voltages were or even how to find out. I was running an older version of Router OS, 7.20.4, not sure if that has any relevance.

However you did clear something up about the hAP so thanks.

PSU from AX2 is 24V @ 1.2A = 28.8W

cAP AX goes from 11W typical to 36W fully loaded
AX2 goes from 12W typical to 27W full loaded

11 + 12 = 23W, within limits for that PSU.
But when you start to really use one, you run into problems to power both.

You should look into PSU able to provide around 50W (a bit more).
Maybe 24V@2.5A, like 24HPOW

This is what I managed to find in my country:

https://scoop.co.za/24vdc-60w-psu-with-iec-cable.html

Would this do the job?

If the barrel connector fits, it will do.

The Mikrotik jack is 5.5x2.1 mm, on the product page you linked to it is specified as "DC Connector: 2.1mm Jack", but of course they mean 5.5x2.1 (or it would be a very small jack).
