Cap input bandwidth to avoid overage charges

Hi,

Have an ISP where I have 80mb with a Mikrotik DUDE router. My isp has capped our bandwidth at their Ciscos in the past but after renewing they said they will no longer do that and recommended I do it on my main router.
What ths best way to limit my Mikrotik to no more then 80mb in. My concern if there was a DDOS attack my bandwith would go over 80 mb and I would have to pay for it. Is their an easy way to fix this?

Still new to Mikrotik and have not had to do this before. Been reading up about Queues but not sure if this is the way to go.

Thanks!
Andy

Good Morning Andy,

80mbit of Data a month?
That is not a lot of Data … What do you use it for ? IoT-Devices?

Usually if someone needs to limit Data-Amount then they use the HotSpot-Feature in Mikrotik.
I don’t know if it is an “easy” Solution to implement for the Router itself to manage Input, output, and Foward Traffic.
→ Maybe someone else can share there results /experience.

Bonus Information:
I made some Tests a couple of mouths ago with my wAP LTE kit.
With a Public IPv4-Address in Germany (Telekom), nothing configured except a “Drop” Input-Firewall Rule for LTE …
Every single day the Router got between 700 - 1200 “requests” from different IP-Addresses in the internet
Depending on the week, the Traffic added up between 70 Mbit and 250 Mbit.

Mispoke, my bandwidth is dedicated 80megabit circuit.
