cap lite @ capsman

Hi everyone,

I have the next question as my second cap lite drives me crazy. After a lot of reading and trial and error I got the first cap lite into capsman. Laptop and AP were both connected to my hex router I believe.
The second one does not show up in capsman, I cannot even see it in the connection dialog of winbox.

The internet always says “push the reset button before connecting it to power. It will flash, stay solid, etc.” (Sounds like the description of the cap ac which is visually totally different)
BUT it has three LEDs. Which one is everybody talking about? What should happen?
I manage to get two states:

  • one outer LED (power?) is on, everything else is off.
  • the outer LED, one right next to it are both solid and the other one next to it is flashing.
(Sorry, I currently don’t have the shell at hand)

I don’t understand when which of these modes occur, seems random to me. And what which modes does.
So no matter what I try, it won’t show up in the connection dialog of winbox. The cap lite I managed to configure yesterday had the same two states, but suddenly some wizard decided to make it visible and I could configure it.

All firewall rules are off. I also tried connecting the cap lite to my laptop. No success. I also changed the laptops IP to some 192.168.88.x address. Nothing. Connecting via MAC. Nothing.

What am I doing wrong and what exactly should happen when I push this tiny reset button?

Thanks in advance,
Timo.

AND the hex is losing it’s configuration, comments and also files I created. What is going on?! Doesn’t it store those things on an internal device?

Check hEX for flash utilization. If it’s (almost) full, then configuration changes can get lost. But that happens after reboot, running copy of config seems to be kept in RAM.

You are right. The flash disk was full to the brim. I stored a hosts file for the adlist with 4MB. This seems to be too much for the 16MB disk. I just deleted the file and will look for a solution later.
Using a URL for the ad list did not work, so I used the file.
