cAP lite in wireless client mode

Hello,
Is it enough to change the wlan interface mode from AP to station/client or are there other things to be configured as well? I tried to set the DHCP client to the bridge (on default config only the wlan interface is part of it) and DHCP server to ether1. So reversing the defaults for DHCP, and also reversing the interface lists, so bridge to WAN list and ether1 to LAN list. But then I couldn’t connect over ethernet to finally(?) change the wireless interface mode.

Can you post your current configuration ?

If i’m correct you should: (If not, i hope somebody will correct me)

  • Put all interfaces into your bridge.

  • Set DHCP client to the bridge. (You don’t need DHCP server as assigning IP addresses is handled by router you are connecting to.)

  • Set your wireless interface to station-bridge mode.

  • Connect to your desired AP.

Then you should be able to get an IP address and internet access on your devices.

Is cap lite your only device? If not what is it attached to?

It would be great to have 2 ports, so you can have managment port so you don’t get locked out of AP, but cAP lite only have one port. Maybe managment wifi is not a bad idea ?

Suggestion above is correct.

Can only be done with slave wireless which then only will work if main is connected.
And main needs to be the one connecting to AP since slave can not be station bridge.
Just saying …

My bad, I presumed that AP have two radios… I presume in that case one of them can be put out of the bridge and used as mgmt interface. For eg. 5GHz radio is used for connecting to AP and 2.4 is used for managment
