cAP or hAPax3?

I have a floor in a house with multiple rooms in an apartment that needs wifi coverage.

Walls are concrete block (thick) – not very RF friendly.

All I need is AP capability (will sit behind RB5009) and will be generally centrally location and will be mounted against a wall (in pink on diagram).

Would I be better off with an ax3 or a cAP (wall mounted) or a different model?

IF all your allowed is one device, then why place it right away inside four walls. If anything I suspect a ceiling mount would be better (guessing)
However, you should really have posted in the wifi forum as keen wifi folks hang out there …

Good questions.

I should have indeed posted in the wifi forum and will know better next time.

The ceilings are off-limits. They building has 8" solid concrete floors/ceilings and it is a major violation of the building rules to even drill into them, let along channel cable.

So, basically, I am stuck locating the AP inside the tech closet as shown, or wall mounted on the living room side of the shared wall, like shown below. And, wall mounting.

Why not use the corner then ?

Added options:
(as much as I prefer not to, sometimes it can be of use)
Can you use powerline adapters in order to be able to place 2 APs in diagonal corners (left bottom and right top) ?
If so, I’d go with wAP AX, table mounted. Very directional pattern towards their front side.

Do some testing with an accesspoint (if you have one laying around). Then you get the best indication on attenuation.

Furthermore, what are your requirements? What will WiFi be used for?

I could do the corner, but I’d be surprised if it make much difference.

2 APs, let alone table mounted, would fail the WAF (wife acceptance factor) immediately. In fact, it is likely that the AP on the outside of the wall rather than inside (my first drawing) would fail WAF.

Testing would be best done by mounting in locations, which means screw holes in walls, which would not be fun.

The space is really not very large, and I really only need coverage for about 2/3 of the space.

WiFi is used for everything from video streaming, web surfing, social media, etc.

Until now, I have an ax3 1 flight up, but I'm getting complaints.

I have an unused TPlink AP, but I thought I'd stay with MT.

Line of sight will be better for most of the area so it will make a difference.

I much prefer wAP AX on a table mount then AX3 or AX2
(it’s a lot less visible)

Also take into account an AP mounted on the inside of the wall will be radiating largely towards the wrong area.

I like the suggestion of powerline, especially for the two bedrooms…
