Cap XL ac (no network)

Hey so I just got my cap xl in the mail today I was reading the instructions and it was saying all I needed to do was plug it in and the wifi network should show up, but I have it plugged into the wall and the ethernet cable plugged into my mikrotik router but I’m still not seeing any wifi network from my computer? Am I doing something wrong here?

There’s also no LED lights the only light that is on is the one that is on is on the ethernet plug powersupply thing (blue light)

Can you plug your computer into ether2 and see if it shows up in Winbox ?

If it was unused then there should show up 2 wifi SSIDs with the schema “MikroTik-” or alike.

Reset button: Hold this button during boot time until LED light starts flashing, release the button to reset RouterOS configuration (total 5 seconds)

Yea I think I got a defective one I watched the videos and seen there should be led lights on the side of it they aren’t even on. I got a new one coming tomorrow.

How did you power the cap?

I plugged the ac power cord into my surge protector and then the plug of that into the supplier etherne/ac power cord and then plugged that into the cap with the ethernet cord. The blue LED light goes on on the gigabit poe thing but it looks like there is no power going to the cap

And you are sure you plugged the ether cable which you inserted into the power injector, in ether1 on the other side ? That’s the only port accepting POE IN for that device.

PS: so the issue is not : no network.
The issue is: no power.

yea the ethernet 1 went into port 1 and I tried ethernet 2 into port 2 both have no power. So yea I wasn’t sure if it had no power or not I contacted my isp first to see if they were the issue haha

You have by any accident some switch or router there which can provide 802.3af/at poe out ?
Try to feed power from there. Just to rule out the power injector is not defect… (I’ve yet to see it happen on any of my devices but never say never)

no I dont have anything like that well hopefully tmrw when I get the replacement well see that something was faulty. My rb5009 router came with a faulty powersupply I had to get that replaced when I got it last week as well.

ok so I got a new 1 in the mail today and the first one wasnt defective I guess because the LED lights are not turning on, on this one either IDK why this is not getting power it makes 0 sense?

hmm how can I attach pics? I tried uploading .jpg’s and it gives me an error

Are you sure you’re connecting the POE injector the right way? There should be labels. One end should say to router (or data or something) and the other POE out. How is yours connected right now?

ah yea I put it backwards haha

Better late than never. Gotta pay attention to details with this stuff. Care to mark your post as solved? There should be an icon on my response about checking how things were connected that you can click on order to indicate your issue was resolved.

Someone before you already asked about the connections on both ends of the separate ethernet cable …

I just want the topic resolved - don’t really care which reply is marked as the solution. It’s not like we get $$ for answering questions. Your response, btw, focused on whether he used ether1 as the “wan” port on the cAP (in order to use PoE in) versus whether he was using the right Ethernet cable from the injector. Regardless of who said what, OP please mark the issue as resolved one way or another.

… or maybe you were not very effective in negotiating the terms of your contract …
