I am looking to start my Mikrotik exploration with a rb4011igs_rm. I am curious about one thing. As the router only has a single SFP+ port and i have a 2 gig connection that comes over said port, can this router effectively split that into two gig interfaces for the rest of my network? Could i present it as either an aggregated LAGG for the entire network or would i need to split it into two 1 gig interfaces? I currently have 5 internal vlan subnets. I would like to present this as an aggregated 2 gig interface..but if i have to do a route per subnet to whichever wan interface(or something like load balancing would work too).
In summary with this router how would i take the SFP+ port and be able to use my full 2 gigabit connection?
My provider sends me a 2 gigabit connection over an SFP plus connection. I would like to be able to then present that 2 gigs of bandwidth to my network and its various subnets. While it would be ideal for me to have a second 10 gig interface I’m curious if the router that I mentioned above could take two of its interface ports and combine them together so that they would effectively be two one gig interfaces presented as a single one or just load balance between the two for my entire network.
Do you want to bond the ports or to use them independently? I guess you mean the second case. According to the tests made by mikrotik it should manage that. Your configuration complexity will show if yes or not. And read well other threads here about the problems with the rb4011…
