I was surprised to get an RB433uah back to the office after just 15 months of service to discover that the caps were bulging.
On inspecting the caps I see that Su’scon SJ series were used, and I am very disappointed in the choice of, what I would determine as a “low end” capacitor.. Meagre life span and meagre shelf life.
It seems that the industry have had to come up with Electrolytic capacitors that full fill the longevity demands of the LED lamp with life expectancy of around 20,000 hours… Ten times that of the Su’scon SJ capacitor.
What results have you guys found in your search to replace these faulty caps… Have you just gone for “standard” criteria, or have any of you experimented with some of the more “up-market” choices, whether it be “mil-spec” or those more interesting demands as detailed by Rubycon.
Old it may be, but it was aimed at the readers and their experiences with replacements.
Do you have any useful input to the thread, eg:
Yes, we are now using the xxx and they have performed perfectly since xxxx and this is where to buy them from xxx and they cost xxx!
Honestly MT I sometimes wonder about your approach to your fare paying servants who have supported you through thick and thin over the years.
Since I am anticipating the repair of my own routerboard which has failed within the 2 year warranty period (enjoyed in this part of Europe), perhaps you should be offering to send me out a handful of capacitors to pacify my nerves, and I can then explain to my clients that have suffered periodic interruptions over the last 2 weeks, that with the assistance of the manufacturer, repairs are forthcoming.
I think it should be worth bearing in mind that these days, those wisps that supported you through the hard times, that the both of us enjoyed periods of time without competitiveness, but these days are now over and we as wisps, just like our customers; have choices!!
