I’ve got a lot of RB450’s in my network, probably more than a hundred. For the last three months or so I’ve seen more and more die with an odd issue. It seems like there is some capacitor that overloades, causing the router to die. If you remove the power for a minute or so when the capacitor has discharged, I can start it up again.
Have any of you experienced similar issues?
I’ve ordered a batch of RB750G to replace them, and I really hope this issue isn’t present in that model.
Check C841,C826,C830,C812 capacitors for leakage maybe it’s same problem like with RB600

I’m not sure it’s the same issue. These routers don’t reboot. They just die until you remove the power for a little while.
Are they on a UPS?
Rb450 have other power controller, if ripple current goes up on controller output it can shutdown all voltages. Check capacitor top, if it’s bloat - this capacitor is not good.
some of these RB450 devices can shut down instead of reboot when there is power fluke. you can fix it with stabilizing power, or soldering a part. you can ask support for fix details.
I haven’t observed any power flukes, instabilities or anything like that when it happens. I have a router right next to me that does this consequently. It works fine, until I pull the power, then it needs to rest for a little.
My next step is to bring in a multimeter to see how far the power goes. My main point with this post was to hear if this is a known issue.
Now I understand. Yes this is a known issue and relate to some other RB4xx I test fix for RB450 - unfortunately no success.
I had a call today from a customer on this issue. It was from a recent batch of RB450 boards. He had several with this problem. I am going to do some testing this weekend to see if I can replicate it and figure out a solution.
