Hello I bought two hap ac rb962UiGS to use in my home. I have two floor home, I want to install each one to one floor. I want to use CAPSMAN, but I have not been able to understand it by reading the material and watching the videos. I have just one home network. One router has DHCP and USERMAN running and in AP mode. The other will be AP as well as switch for a couple of peripheral,
I am using gigabit powerline adapters between for home networking.
Do I need a seperate interface on CAPSMAN as shown in many videos…?
More or less, I have achieved what I intended to do. My aim was to have firm control on wireless clients, manage wireless devices from a single place.
I have installed two devices, one is running Userman, dhcp server and capsman, attached to a firewall. I can control wireless features of two devices from CAPSMAN. They are all in the same subnet along with all devices attached to my network. Dhcp, wireless requests (mac authetication) are authenticated by userman, This was my intention and finally did it.
All tutorials including Mikrotik always creates a new bridge, NAT, dhcp etc. for the CAPS. I do not get the need in a small environment. I have watched most of the tutorial or videos in youtube relevant to userman and capsman and read several presentations given in mikrotik seminars…
I do have one more thing left. Creating quest networks. Againt mikrotik seminars starts with creating a new bridge…Some tutorials creates several interfaces, for management etc. I do not get the need for the complexity. Of course may be performance wise, it may be necessary I do not know…
