capsman dualband with same SSID on different channels ?

Hi.
i am having an issue with my capsman config.
i am running one ssid on both 2.4 and 5ghz.
i have on 2,4 ghz in the caps config tab the freq 2412 and 2462 and this works. but on 5ghz not. when i put different freq in.

google does provide me with a helpful answer.

any helpful hints

What exactly does not work?
Give more details …

Per radio you can have a single frequency (or a list of frequencies that the device chooses from). It is not possible to use multiple frequencies on a single radio.

It is not possible to use multiple frequencies on a single radio.

A single radio can’t use more than one frequencies anyways… (except on 5GHz, when using the secondary frequency feature for 160MHz channels)

The AP will only choose 1 frequency to use…
So even if you put multiple frequencies in the List, only 1 will be chosen…

What model of WiFI devices are you controlling?
Show us the CAPsMAN config please.

hi guys.
apperently i did not recieved a email when you guys replied.
problem solved

it’s working perfectly.

i will use provision on the mac adres => every AP has it own config with the channels config in it.

Thanks.

What exactly did you solve?
As stated in my earlier post, even if you put 2 or 3 frequencies in the List, only 1 will be used…
Even if you configure different frequencies, on slave configuration for example, only the frequency in the master configuration will be used…

You can check that with a wifi analyzer…

i made different configs for every AP radio with different channels.

i have 2 dual band ap units. => 4 configs.

provision rule for every radio macadres

i checked it with a wifi analyser and this works.

i hope this makes any sense to you .

Joost.

Sorry but you can’t use different frequencies on the same radio Band…
Can you show the details from the Network analyzer ? As you re saying, you are using two frequencies for the 2.4 GHz at the same time, lets say 2412 and 2437 and two frequencies at the same time ( without the use of secondary frequency ) for the 5 GHz Band, lets say 5180 and 5200 or anything…

Wiki:
Virtual interfaces will always use the Master interface wireless frequency

Also from WiKi:
There are settings that are meaningful only for master interface, i.e. mainly hardware setup related settings such as radio channel settings

yes. i have 2 ap’s
one ssid in the network.

ap 1 => 2412 and 5180
ap 2 => 2462 and 5875

i do NOT use 2 freq on one the same band at the same time .

Joost.

Is it possible to set up the secondary frequency for a 160mhz channel on the wifi1 interface, then create two virtual SSID’s that each use one of the 80mhz channels?
I’m thinking probably not, but I have to ask…

No, it’s single radio regardless the channel width. Virtual SSIDs operate over “master” channel, they can’t have separate radio settings.
