CAPsMAN Profile Switching

Hey All,
Relatively new Mikrotik user here. I have a question about CAPsMAN, and the router’s behavior when going into and out of CAPsMAN mode. Here’s the scenario:

I have an audio company, and I have Mikrotik HAP AC2 routers as part of my front of house and monitor console racks. When using both consoles for one show, I would like to put the monitor console HAP AC2 in CAPsMAN mode and join the CAPsMAN server set up on the HAP AC2 in the front of house rack so the network is distributed between stage and FOH and all devices are on the same network. Easily done.

When I am doing a smaller show and only need one console, I would like to be able to operate the monitor console rack as a standalone network with the HAP AC2 in normal LTE AP Dual mode. Also easily done.

My question is: When I hold the reset button and put the router in CAP mode, it will go into CAP mode. When I don’t hold the button and allow the device to power up normally, will my previous standalone configuration be used, or does putting it in CAP mode remove my previous configuration?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

Putting in CAP mode reconfigures device permanently.

Putting in CAP mode using reset sequence, that is …
You can also use the mode button to make a script which toggles both modes.

Thank you both for your replies! The script with the mode button is an interesting idea. I’ll look into it.

Thanks again!
