There are two, incompatible, versions of CAPsMAN used currently: legacy capsman which can control cAPs running legacy wireless driver and new capsman which can control newer wave2wifi devices. The ones you’re mentioning in your post (hAP ac2, hAP ac3, hAP ax2) are all capable of running new wave2/wifi driver and can thus be controlled by single (new) capsman.
… but it does require, for now, 7.13 beta version.
CAPsMAN, which stands for Controlled Access Point system Manager, is a centralized management system for wireless networks that is used by MikroTik. It allows you to control multiple MikroTik RouterOS APs (Access Points) from a single device.
Regarding your question, the hAP AC2/3 devices do not support WiFi 6 (802.11ax), as they are designed for the previous generation of Wi-Fi technology (802.11ac). On the other hand, the hAP AX2 is designed to support WiFi 6.
In a network managed by CAPsMAN, you can still use the hAP AX2 to its full potential, including WiFi 6 features, provided that the CAPsMAN version you are running supports managing APs with WiFi 6 capabilities. With the appropriate CAPsMAN configuration, the hAP AX2 should be able to serve WiFi 6 to clients that support it, while the hAP AC2/3 will serve clients with 802.11ac or older Wi-Fi standards.

Sorry, but it’s still unclear to me whether CAPsMAN on an 802.11ac router can control an 802.11ax CAP. I thought the wireless protocols in all CAP network devices must be the same as they are defined by CAPsMAN. And, of course, all routers in my scenario are running RouterOS 7.13 and WiFiWave2.

Could you elaborate, please. Can I set the band in the configuration profile in hAP AC3 running CAPsMAN to 5GHz AX or 2GHz AX to control hAP AX2 without getting “out of range” message on hAP AC2/3 devices? I believe I tried that before and couldn’t make it work.
Using 7.13 beta ac2 can also use wifiwave2 drivers.
Ac3 was already able to do so.
And then it’s all the same driver. The same capsman. The same fast transition settings.

No, it’s pretty much the same question: can CAPsMAN work properly with both AC (WiFi5) and AX (WiFi6) devices in the same network. So you’re saying that CAPsMAN can control AX devices even though the CAPsMAN host (hAP AC3) doesn’t support 802.11ax and the controlled hAP AX will still operate as a WiFi6 device? If that’s the case, does the band/channel configuration in CAPsMAN host require any tweaking?

The “capsman” setup for the newer wifi is done under the WiFi Tab, not under the Capsman Tab.
It is easy to attach local wifiwave2 interfaces to configurations that are part of “capsman”,
but they cannot actually be controlled/configured by the local capsman.
AX or AC is irrelevant here.
The use of wifiwave2 drivers will be the common factor which makes it all work together.
