CAPsMAN

I have an RB5009 and 3 - haP ax3.

Presently all of the AX3 have their own SSID. I also use the AX3 as a simple switch for a few other device devices that are hardwired.

I have watched a handful of YouTube videos on making this work with CAPSMAN. Does anybody see any problem with this hardware configuration?

Nope, it’s absolutely fine.. maybe even perfect..

I think that everything and more is possible by using CAPsMAN. Any specific doubts you have?

The 1M € question …

Rephrased:
Why do you think you need to move to capsman if it works now ?
What do you think (from watching all those YT videos) you can use to your benefit which you currently don’t have with your current setup ?

no fault of Mikrotik but often the devices that I am walking around with do not switch to the next WAP. I guess maybe you’re right what is capsman going to do to help me? Good point

That’s actualy the best reason, the roaming…

For a client device to successfully roam between 2 APs, the APs need to be managed by the same instance of RouterOS. For information on how to centrally manage multiple APs, see CAPsMAN

That’s what I originally was thinking was for the roaming that it would take care of passing it off to the other WAP as needed. I don’t know about anything else that it needs to do, but that’s the most important part for me anyway.

so what does everybody think?

I guess I don’t understand the link you sent me is the same chat Forum thread that we’re on? Basically are you telling me to read this again? I really don’t know the answer. That’s why I asked.

It helps when you speak out your doubts.

If the current setup is working for you…leave it as it is.
If the SSID per accesspoint is intended…leave it as it is.
If there is anything you want to change, explain.

I.e. roaming has some requirements; single SSID (and security and same subnet) is one of them.
