Is it possible to use scripting to firstly configure the packetsniffer to capture a DHCP exchange and then to parse the captured packet to retrieve the values present in DHCP options 242 and 243 in the DHCP offer/DHCP ack packet.
What would be even better would be if It could run a HEX to DEC conversion on the values present in these packets so the output is shown in Dec.
The reason I’m interested is the Upstream Sync speed for my VDSL Line is present as a hex value in option 242 and option 243 contains the downstream sync speed also in hex.
The VDSL modem itself is locked down and cannot be accessed from the LAN side, Whilst It is possible to force a firmware flash back to generic unlocked firmware so that one can get at the line stats I’ve decided against it as it could cause me trouble should I ever get a fault on my VDSL CCT.
