Cat5 Extender

I have some equipment that is about 300 feet up on an FM Radio tower. I have shielded cable but I am guessing that there is still just enough interference from the FM frequency messing with the impedance making the cable read about 340 to 350 feet. Has anybody used any good cat5 extenders that work with POE that I could put up on my tower about 50 to 75 feet that would allow me to get 100 full duplex on my cable link. Right now I can only get 10 Full and sometimes I have to set it to 10 half. Please any info would be appreciated.

Every simple switch can act as extender. You also need two extra POE injectors and problem solved

I used FM filters and better grounding to solve my FM tower problems. Same thing, I had about 330 feet of cable and could only run 10Mbps. Used a filter and grounded the shielded Cat5e at both ends to improve it.

Did you put the FM filters at the on the tower at the end of the cat5 or at the bottom at the front of the cat5?

Thanks

FM filters at both top and bottom. Inside the outdoor box at the top. Inside the radio shack at the bottom. Grounded the cable just below the outdoor box and also at the tower base on the ground bar.

FWIW The station engineer recommended grounding the cable every 50 feet.

Hi roc-noc.
which type of fm filter you use? There are months I search fro them.

about grounding: if you ground at the top and at the bottom, could a different potential from the two locations generate a current in your cable ? I read in variuos posts that is better to ground only one side.

thanks

in my country we can find fiber+2 pairs of data. You can use fiber for data and 2 copper pairs for poe.
