Hi
We have a RB 1000 which it’s os version is 4.6. we planned to upgrade it to the 5.26 version. I know how to backup configurations but i don’t know how to backup the os and packages. I want to tack a full backup before upgrade so if there was something wrong after upgrade, i could bring the old version back.
please guide me
thanks
Hi.
I recommend you to make two backups (plain text and binary ). With command export file=name4.13_RB1000 and system backup save name=name_4.13_RB1000X. The first one can be import to a any routerboard (with the same number of interface) and you can edit it, the second one can’t be edited and is attached to the Board and the RouterOS, wich means you can restore in other exactly Board and RouterOS and you are sure it’s gonna work in other case could work or not.
The backup is a configuration file so is not a OS backup and neither package backup.
Be sure to save your backups files in your PC. Files in MikroTik it´s not a good place is something happen with routerboard.
After that you can upgrade the RoS 5.26.
If something is not working well you can downgrade and then restore the .backup file.
I hope this help you.
