CCR 1009-8G-1S-1S+ Boot Failures, Reboots and lockups

Hi,
I’m working on a new tower deployment. I have this CCR 1009-8G-1S-1S+ at the base with fiber running up the tower to a UBNT EP-S16. I’ve got SFP+ modules in both and single mode fiber. About half the time, when power cycled, the CCR comes up with lights on and hangs. If it manages to boot up fully, it’ll sometimes reboot when the SFP module is turned on (at least I think that’s what’s happening). If it gets past that, sometimes there is no link on the SFP+. If all manages to boot up and a link is established and I pull just the fiber out of the SFP+, it will sometimes reboot when I put it the fiber back in. I’ve seen at least one other post where someone had similar unreliable operation related to the new addition of fiber. This seems like a power issue to me. I’m using FTLX1471D3BTL for my SFP+ modules.

Any help is appreciated!

Are you running current or development RouterOS?

Try a different power supply… It’s a 12V or 24V device, if you have a external power supply you can use that too just to test.

I’ve had the same type of issues on one of my CCR1036’s until I replaced the power supply.

I haven’t opened it up, but I have seen the insides of other Mikrotik routers, so I can try a new power supply. I’m using the latest release - just downloaded it last week.

Definately sounds like PSU related problems.

Check C10 capacitor on the PSU PCB’s for physical signs of leakage.

I ended up RMA-ing it. The new one works much better. They said they were going to repair the old one, but just gave up and refunded my money (because I needed it, I bought a new one at the same time I sent the dead one in).
