CCR-1016-12G bricked

Hi all,

My CCR-1016-12G started acting strange. The NIC that was my WAN NIC could not be reached and disappeared from the list of interfaces and when I investigated further I noticed a text in the display saying “Kernel panic” and something else and then it rebooted. After that, I couldn’t access the device anymore.

I suspect the unit may have been overheating since it was a bit hot (fans are working) but I took it out of the rack and brought it into my office and booted it again a few days later and now it says “Booting kernel” in the display and after a while, I get an “x” in the display (see photo below) and the fans start running like crazy. The cpu cooler gets very hot after 1-2 minutes of running.

Is this unit totally bricked now or can it be saved?

Thanks,

Joacim

You can try to connect him via COM-port, using any terminal program. I think that boot loader of Your router is live, and You will see a boot menu. Also You can use Netinstall for formatting flash and reinstalling RouterOS.

The X on the screen is OK. Hit the X with your finger. It is just the calibration screen.

Indeed! How silly of me. Thank you! All the settings seems to be missing but part from that it seems fine,
