CCR1009-7G Refuses to Route to Internet

I’ve verified my static settings are correct and tested with another router (edgerouter), a PC and a Mac with the static IP information. So I know that’s correct.

For whatever reason I can’t figure out why but the CCR1009 is refusing to route internet traffic.

I’ve cleared the default configuration and used QuickSet to setup the router settings.

Configuration mode: Router
Internet Port : Eth1 which is connected to the modem
Acquisition Static
IP address: Public IP
Netmask 255.255.255.240 /28 which is also the setting I tested on the computers and edgerouter
Gateway: Is the Public IP xx.xx.xx.1
DNS I’ve tried 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8

Local network (DHCP is working fine and the PC receives the IP address)
192.168.10.1
255.255.255.0/24
DHCP Server is Checked
Server Range is 192.168.10.50-192.168.10.254
NAT is checked

In this setup the router nor the computers will route to the internet and I can’t ping via IP nor domain.

From looking people said to go to IP and DNS and enable remote requests

No change

I then disabled NAT in Quick Set and then the router was able to connect out to the internet no problem, however hosts then aren’t able to route to the internet.

I know that my bridge is working to the hardwired lan port as I get a LAN IP and can connect to the mikrotik through winbox

So what on earth am I missing?

Edit:

Well this just seems to be stupid and why I can’t stand things like this;

So out of the box the unit was running some firmware version from 2018 (6.something cant remember the exact version number but the terminal did say (c) 2018 and the unit was purchased just a few months ago).

With this firmware it refused to connect to the internet with NAT enabled for the clients. So I didn’t enable NAT and the router connected and updated the firmware no problem, but then naturally the hosts weren’t enabled for NAT so they weren’t connecting to the internet. So now that I’m on 6.44.3 I renabled NAT and now the hosts are able to connect no problem.

So what gives? Was there a bug in prior firmware? Does anyone have any ideas as it’s working now but only after doing that.

I’m really starting to hate using Mikrotik… So this issue still persists with all the other Mikrotik routers I’m using. I’m literally using the Quick Set and now 90% of the time I can’t even get it to apply the static IP changes. I have Internet address Acquisition set to static. When I type in the IP address and net mask it keeps dumping it back to 192.168.1.91 which isn’t even an IP I’ve set and changing the Netmask back to 255.255.255.0 /24

What gives Mikrotik?

Every single time I enter in the IP address and net mask then hit apply it removes the settings I put and replaces it with some default settings.

Post the output (between code tags) of export file=“myExport.rsc”.
