CCR1036 PPPoE & large 40mbit+ queues help/advice

Currently I am running 6.32.2

I have long struggled with suspecting that queues in Mikrotik are slowing down my customers more than it should.

I thought I had solved the problem by going away from using the default-small queue type but I found the problem seems to be back.

Here is the scenario
PPPoE over VPLS tunnel running on MPLS over a reliable wireless link
PPPoE user has speed controlled by radius attribute

If I set the radius user to unlimited speed, I am able to reliably get 50+mbps
If I set the radius user to 40mbps download speed with default-small queue type I get max 30mbps
If I set the queue type to default I get max 37mbps

My Upload limit is 10mbps and works fine

I will continue to tweak my queue types in hopes to get this right but I am hoping someone else has found a reliable solution or queue size/type for high speed queues.

What do you use? simple queues? queue tree? paste your queue config

As I said…

PPPoE

this implies simple queue because as far as I know PPPoE can only use simple queues.

There is no queue config as such, they are created dynamically upon successful PPPoE radius auth

y have noted that PCQ queues for high bandwidth need bigger buffer

I have been having good success with wireless-default type actually in my recent tests

Hopefully it stays this way but looks like I may have found my solution
