CCR1072 and other routers on Tile chip

Hi!

As I understand it, MikroTik has discontinued all products based on the Tile chip. My question is, how long will MikroTik continue to support routers using this chip? Will there be ROS 6 and 7 versions for these routers?

ROS 6 is pretty much EOL as well. We might see some new release fixing critical bugs for some future. It’ll probably remain to be available for download for quite some time.

ROS 7 is being actively developed and Tile platform support is so far on par with the rest of supported platforms.

The question is, how “far” will this “so far” be?

I guess only time will tell … when asked (some year ago), MT claimed that Tile architecture is not EOL yet. CCR1016-12S-1S+ and CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ are still listed as current products, so Tile platform as a whole is not EOL yet. Mikrotik has been supporting EOLed hardware in ROS for long time (many years) previously and I don’t see any reason for them to change this (but then I’m only a humble user, I can not talk for MT).

If you want to get some straight answer, then you should ask MT directly via official support channels (e-mail, web interface), this forum is not one of them. If you do ask and you do get some informative answer, please share it with us.

I think maybe you can expect RouterOS 7.xxxx maintain full support for Tile Devices, Maybe in RouterOS 8.xx dont, i dont have any clue of the aproxiamte date for this events

Remember, this is a user forum ( i am an user too)

If you need an Official Answer, go to proper support channels

Just for clarification, is not only a direct will of MikroTik to cease Tile devices fabrication, chip vendor (Now Nvidia Owns it) has ceased fabrication of it, so there is no way to continue manufacturing this devices

Answer by Mikrotik support (main part): “…The product being discontinued - from manufacturing, does not mean we will stop issuing updates for it. RouterOS v6 will still receive security updates, and RouterOS v7 will still get new updates for Tile.”
And they pointed out my mistake - not all models using the Tile chip have been discontinued (CCR1009, CCR1016).

Yes, they have, try and find a zero trust cloudflare option for CCR1009 ? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I call it proxy EOL bwahahaha…
