CCR2004-16G-2S+PC temperature exceeds 100C and shuts down

I just received a CCR2004-16G-2S+PC today. I started using it and after about 10 minutes it then it dropped off the network and the network ports went dark. I connected a serial console cable to it and when I reset it, then I could see on the console log that the CPU temperature was 105C and it was a critical error and shutting down. Though it then proceeded to try to reboot again and the next temperature was 106C and then reboot again and then 107C when I unplugged it. As a note this was being done inside a room with a temperature of 20C/68F.

I unplugged it and after a few minutes I plugged it back in and was able to login. The temperature started at 70C and kept climbing and after only a few minutes exceeded 90C, so I decided to unplug.

I’m assuming that I should just return the unit and get a replacement. But I thought I would check to see if there might be some simple reason for this. Doing a light shaking of the unit I don’t hear any loose parts or anything. No visible damage on the unit or the box it was packaged in.

Thanks!

If temperature starts climbing the moment you switch it on, there is little else you should do then return it for replacement since it’s under warranty.

Thank you. I will return it.
