CCR2216 40G AND 100G

Hi,

my isp is providing me with 40g internet connection and my core network is 100g. however when I plug in my ccr2216 with the 40g transceiver in port qsfp #1, the qsfp port #2 does not show 100G speed available only 40g.

is this normal behavior or i did something wrong?

For your setup, QSFP-1 should run in 4x10GB mode and QSFP-2 in 4x25GB mode.
I seems like running QSFP-1 with 4x10GB somehow disables 4x25GB on QSFP-2.

Most likely you discovered a bug in ROS on CCR2216.
If you see this with the latest stable (7.2.3), I suggest to contact support@mikrotik.com.

In general, I would be carefull with running recently introduced devices like CCR2216 in production.
Out of experience, it takes some months and ROS releases for new devices to get ready for the field.

But…
if 4 x 10 = 40 and 4 x 25 = 100,
how is possible reach 140G if the max speed of combined port are 100G? (or not?)
probably if 40G is used, on another port remain available only 60G (obtainables partially with some combo)…
I do not remember where I see a table about concurrents allowed values.

As I understand it, we are discussing the speed of the established link, not the effective throughput. The CCR2216 block diagram states “2x100 GB full duplex” for the QSFP ports.
It should be possible to establish link on both QSFP ports with 100GB (4x25GB) or any combination with lower speeds.
Of course combined throughput towards CPU will be limited to the 100GB of the CPU link.

issue solved

it was just a matter of enabling fec 91 in the port
mikrotik support answered the request with instructions
now WAN port is 40g and LAN port is 100g

How is the performance so far? Would you be willing to share any additional information regarding your setup and what kind of switch you are using? How many full tables? Stable so far?

stable yes
fast yes
Im new to mikrotik everything good so far.

here is my server room in my house

core switch is a unifi leaf,
3 racks
7 x 30 amps dedicate circuits
1PB storage

How many 0 is in petabytes? what do you need at home for … rhetorically asking …
but I’m really interested what are your power bills.
